William E. Merrifield, 81, of Fryeburg, Maine, died peacefully Nov. 12, 2011 at Mineral Springs of North Conway from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.
Born Dec. 17, 1929 in Porter, Maine, to Elton D. and Ruth Clark Merrifield, he was educated in Porter schools. He earned a bachelor's of science and master's in eduation degrees from Springfield College (Mass.), with additional study at Syracuse, Fairfield, Western Conn.. and New York State universities.
He married Ann C. Elphinstone on Aug. 14, 1954 in Springfield Mass. They raised their three children in Carmel, N.Y.
Bill taught science for two years in Fort Plain, N.Y., and for 32 years at Brewster High School where he was district science coordinator, ski coach, president of Brewster Teachers Assoc., and board member of Carmel Teachers Federal Credit Union. In retirement, he substituted at Fryeburg Academy and SAD 72.
As a teacher, he was highly respected by his students and his colleagues.
In retirement, he was a volunteer in Jr. Ski Program and Adaptive Skiing. He sang in Mount Washington Valley Choral Society for 20 years. As a member of First Congregational Church of Fryeburg, he sang in the choir and served as deacon and trustee. Bill and Ann coordinated the church’s thrift shop for many years. He enjoyed singing, traveling, skiing and hiking.
He was a devoted husband to Ann for 57 years; loving father to Karen E. Ross and husband, Steve, of Brewster, N.Y.; son, Robert and wife, Sharon, of Blairstown, N.J.; son, Scott and wife, Joanne, of Somerset, N.J.; proud grandfather to Kimberly, Kristen and Joshua Ross and Rebecca and Graham Merrifield; older brother to Judith Sawyer, of Parsonsfield, Maine, and Richard Merrifield, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was pre-deceased by brother David in 2007.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at First Congregational Church, Fryeburg, on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m.
Bill’s family is grateful to the entire staff of Mineral Springs for their loving, skilled care over the past two years.

NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. — Natalie McKenna, 69, of North Palm Beach, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring. She was surrounded by her family.
Born in Manhattan and raised in Carmel, N.Y., she later lived in Salem, N.H., and Dover Plains, N.Y., before retiring to North Palm Beach. She graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., with a bachelor's degree in education, and later earned a master's degree in education from Suffolk University in Boston.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, J. Bruce McKenna of Ponte Vedra Beach; sons Sean McKenna of Ponte Vedra Beach, Todd McKenna of North Palm Beach and Kyle McKenna of Durham, N.H.; her mother, Marie Marrone of Cocoa Beach; a brother, Matt Marrone of Carmel, N.Y.; and her grandchildren, Justin, Sarah, Jordan, Drew, Tyler, Sadie and Laura.
WE REMEMBER: Natalie taught for many years as a special education teacher in the New York public school system, before working her way up through the administration ranks to become an elementary school principal in one of the largest elementary schools in the state of New York. She took pride in knowing nearly every student by name as she walked the halls of her school.
Upon retirement, Natalie became a longtime board member and chairman of the North Palm Beach Library.
She loved boating, beaches and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Above all, she was an extraordinary mother who lovingly raised three sons.

Joseph Francis Fox of Brewster, New York, died Monday September 6, 2010 in Carmel, NY at the age of 67. Mr. Fox was born December 28, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY son of the late Edward and Catherine (Walling) Fox. He graduated from Erasmus High School in Brooklyn in 1960, then married Patricia DeClemente in NY City on February 25, 1969. Mr. Fox worked as a conductor for Metro North for fifteen yrs., then owned and operated Brewster Screen Printing with his wife Patricia for six yrs. before working as a courier for the Brewster Central School District for fifteen yrs. retiring in 2007. Besides his wife Patricia of Brewster he is survived by two sons; Joseph Fox and his wife Amy of Milford, CT, John Fox and his wife Melissa of Danbury, CT, and a brother Edward Fox of Queens, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday September 8, 8:00 p.m. at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY 10509. Interment will be private. King Kathleen M., age 54 of Brewster, NY passed away On April 22, 2010 in New Haven, CT with her family by her side. Kathleen was born in Bronx, NY on April 27, 1955; the daughter of Robert and Mary (Killeen) Cleary. Kathleen graduated with an associates degree as an LPN and was empoyed by the Brewster School District in Brewster, NY. Kathleen married the love of her life Thomas King on June 24, 1978 at St. Joseph's Church in Croton Falls, NY. Kathleen had many joys in her life, she mostly enjoyed vacationing in Ireland and at the shore, she had a tremendous love for music and Irish step dancing. Most of all she will be remembered for her devotion to her children and husband as well as spending time with her family and friends. And don't forget her brother-in-law Robert! Kathleen is survived by her devoted husband Thomas, her two loving sons Thomas and John both of Brewster, NY. She is predeceased by her father Robert and is also survived by her loving mother Mary, her sister Bernie Ball (Kevin) of Brewster, NY and several cherished nieces and nephews. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday April 27, 2010 at 10 AM at the St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster, NY. Interment will be private. Barbara Gillette was in the home stretch of her career as a Brewster school teacher for 24 years.Her retirement was set for June, a milestone recognized just last week by friends and colleagues during a party. Barbara taught Spanish for almost all of her time in the school district and was certified to teach Spanish and English in 7th through 12th grades. Friends and colleagues described a woman who loved to travel, who served in the Peace Corps in South America after college and who enjoyed raising King Charles spaniels Barbara was in school Tuesday and had taught her classes before heading home, where she lived alone with her dogs. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Beecher Funeral Home in Brewster, and a service will be held at 7 p.m.

Celia Bond of New Fairfield, CT formerly of Mahopac, NY died at her home on June 21, 2009 after a long Illness she was 45 years old. Celia was born in Ireland the daughter of Michael Daly and the late Marcella ( Lambert ) Daly. She was a graduate of Trinity College in Dublin Ireland, and was a national certified board teacher , teaching in the Bronx, NY and the Brewster Schools in Brewster, NY . Most recently she was named Who's Who in American Education. In addition to her father she is survived by her husband Dennis of New Fairfield, two sons Patrick and Stephen, one brother Patrick Daly, two sisters Anne Lambert, and Claire O' Reilly all of Ireland. Friends May call at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main St. Danbury CT on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 AM at St Edward the Confessor Church. Nick was one of our most active members and served the Putnam Lake Fire Department for over 30 years. Nick served as chief in 1981 along with terms of president, vice president and all the firematic positions. We will miss him.

Crawford, Josephine E., age 77, died Monday, July 14, 2008 in Brewster, NY. Mrs. Crawford was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on June 25, 1931 to Thomas and Concetta (Maiello) Gasparini. On December 24, 1950 she married Samuel Crawford in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Crawford died December 3, 1976. Mrs. Crawford was a custodian for the Brewster Central School District for 20 years, retiring in 1998. A 44 year resident of Brewster, Mrs. Crawford had lived in Mt. Vernon prior. Mrs. Crawford was a volunteer for the Office of the Aging. Mrs. Crawford is survived by two sons, Samuel Crawford and his wife Maureen of Carmel, NY and Daniel Crawford and his wife Susan of Brewster, NY; three brothers, Lou Gasparini and Thomas Gasparini, both of Brewster, and John Gasparini of Fort Worth, TX; a sister Beatrice Peterson of Albuquerque, NM, and a brother Anthony Gasparini. Also six Grandchildren.

On September 1, 1973 he married Laura Cooper in the Bronx, New York. She was the Director of School Facilities and Operations for Brewster Schools. He was an avid hunter and member of Sacred Heart Church in Putnam Lake. Loving husband of Laura. Dear father of Lauren and Michael Guigliano and brother of Angelo Guigliano. Dear son to Rita Guigliano. His father, Angelo Guigliano, predeceased him in 1999. Liz has been a Reading Teacher for Brewster Central Schools for the past 11 years. Liz received a Bachelor's from Pace University and her Master's from the College of New Rochelle . She has a dual Masters in Reading and Special Education. She has worked in Garden Street School for 11years and she was also in JFK for one year. Liz also taught for the College of New Rochelle during her time here. In her spare time Liz enjoys SHOPPING, sailing, snowboarding, speed skating, and of course reading. She was recently married to Andy Rimmer this past summer. She lives in Mamaroneck near her parents. Liz is well known for her sense of style and is always very well dressed.
Liz is very soft spoken and is extremely well loved by all of her students. She has added to the knowledge and repertoire of her peers through her instruction at in-services and faculty meetings.
